Eula Mae Castle Kimbler, age 69 of Tutor Key, died Tuesday April 11, 2017. She was born June 23, 1947 to the late Marshall “Bot” and Gertrude Ramey Castle. Along with her parents Eula is also preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Kimbler, one brother Bobby Lee Smedley, and one sister Brenda Kaye Castle. Eula was a X-Ray Technician. She is survived by one son, Charles “Chuck” Miller of Van Lear, one grandson Joseph (Natasha) Miller of River, one sister Nancy Clifton of Flat Gap, two great grand children, Isaac and Chelsea, three nephews, four nieces, three great nephews, and one great niece. Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. Wednesday at the Preston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 6 P.M. Wednesday at the Preston Funeral Chapel, with Harry Neal Frisby and James Smedley officiating.
Danny Lee Hicks, age 48, of Thealka died Friday evening April 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 17, 1968 in Laport, In to the late Glen and Hazel Messer Hicks. Surviving his death is his life partner Elizabeth Hicks, one son: Nathan Daniel Hicks of Willard, Ohio; one daughter: Jessica Hicks of Willard, Ohio; one step son: Branden Hicks of Thealka; two brothers: Glen Hicks Jr. of Dawson Springs, KY, Michael Hicks of South Shore, KY; five sisters: Linda Horn of Richmond, KY, Brenda Castle of Thealka, Barbara Williams of Allen, Patricia Vanhoose of Flemingsburg, and Angie Castle of Paintsville. Visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday April 9, 2017 at the Meally Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday April 10, 2017 at the church with Chester Keathley officiating. Burial to follow in the Hicks Family Cemetery at Thealka.
Diana Rose Price age 63 died Wednesday April 5, 2017. She was born August 28, 1953 to the late Hobert and Fanny Jewell McKenzie Stambaugh. Diana was a waitress with Jerry’s Restaurant. She is survived by one son Scotty Price of Sitka, two daughters Regina (Jonathan) Russo of Sitka, Beverly Fannin of Sitka, two brothers Bill Stambaugh of Paintsville, Terry Stambaugh of Sitka, three sisters Wanda Couch, Sandy Stambaugh and Sherry Conley all of Sitka, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the Preston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Steven Richardson officiating. Emma Lou Martin age 84, died Wednesday April 5, 2017. She was born November 24, 1932 to the late Alvin and Verna Gibson Taylor. Emma was a member of the Presbyterian Church and she was a Right of Way Agent for the Kentucky Department of Highways. She is survived by her husband Clarence Martin one son Clarence Fredrick (Parthena) Martin Jr. of Houston, TX., one daughter Mary Lou (Neil) Bailey of Prestonsburg, one sister Judy Childers of Allen, KY, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the Presbyterian Church in Prestonsburg. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Prestonsburg, with Rob Music officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayo Cemetery at Prestonsburg, KY.
Pauline “Polly” Tackett Depriest, age 52 of Paintsville, died Monday April 3, 2017. Pauline was born December 10, 1964 in Paintsville, KY to the late Paul and Elsie Stapleton Tackett. Pauline was a former secretary with Paintsville Housing and a member of the Pentecostal Church. She is survived by 1 son: Shannon Price, 2 daughters: Ashley Price, and Brenda Blair, 3 sisters: Teresa Fields, Stella Kimbler, and Bernice Tackett, 5 Grandchildren: Dillon Wells, Jackson Price, Paul Runyon, Noah Price, Taylor Price; and 4 step grandchildren: Madison Lyons, Erica Lyons, Joscee Blair, James Blair. Freda M. Tharpe age 62 died Friday March 31, 2017. She was born April 25, 1954 to the late Logan and Nevalene Haden Ward. Freda is survived by her husband Randolph Tharpe, three sons Randy Allen Tharpe of Paintsville, Logan Scott Light and William Light both of Bowling Green, KY one daughter Kandie McNeil of Valdosta, GA, five sisters Anna Lee LeMaster and Dimple Howard both of Paintsville, Tammi Pierce of Chattanooga, TN, Donna Salyer of Ashville, NC, Pam Estep of Staffordsville, KY., and six grandchildren. Brenda Hazelett age 64 died Wednesday March 29, 2017. She was born July 13, 1952 to the late Jackie Lee and Mollie Faye Daniels VanHoose. Brenda was a secretary for the Johnson County Court System. She is survived by her husband Steve Hazelett, one son Kevin and his wife Kristi Hazelett of Hager Hill, KY, one grandchild, two brothers Ricky Curt VanHoose and Larry Lee VanHoose both of Nippa. Sally Perry age 81 died Friday March 24, 2017. She was born January 19, 1936 to the late Marion and Elizabeth Estep Stone. Sally was a custodian with the Clay County FL. School System and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Jack Perry, three brothers; Ronald Stone of Martin, KY, Jake Stone of Warsaw, IN, and Tommy Stone of Sitka, KY; five step daughters Tammy Criswell of Morehead, KY, Missy Friend of Stanton, KY, Regina Kitchen of Flat Gap, Robin McKinny of Flemingburg, KY Marsh Taylor of Morehead, KY., nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M. at the Preston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Bobby Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Cyrus Perry Cemetery at Oak Hill, KY.
Mabel Mae Collins, age 77 of Offutt, died Tuesday, March 21. Mabel was born September 24, 1939 in Bloomfield Indiana to the late Wilbur and Ozaline Newby Allis. Also preceding her death was her husband, William Robert Collins. Mabel was a housewife and a member of the Boons Camp Free Will Baptist Church. Mabel is survived by two sons: William Robert “Bobby” (Peggy) Collins JR and Willard (Lynn) Collins: three grandchildren; Robert Allan Collins, Logan Bryce Collins, and Amber Lynn Collins. Visitation is scheduled from 1 P.M. until 10 P.M. Thursday at the Boons Camp Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 P.M. Friday at the church with Landrum Burchett and Edmond Hickman officiating. Burial will follow at the Collins Family Cemetery at Offutt, KY.
Stephen Douglas Tackett age 41, died Sunday March 19, 2017. He was born May 24, 1975 to Betty Mollett Tackett and the late William Tackett. Stephen served his country in the United States Army. Along with his mother Stephen is survived by one sister Tammy Nichole Tackett of River, one half brother William Jordon – Neal Tackett, one half sister Kodi Leigh Tackett, and a special nephew James Bryant Ramey. Visitation will be held Tuesday form 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. and on Wednesday form 4 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday at the Mollett Family Cemetery with Eugene Wells and Johnny Mollett officiating. In lieu of flowers make donation to the Jordan Light Foundation.
