James Lemaster age 75 died Sunday January 29.  He is was born January 9, 1937 to the late Ealey and Delphia Young Lemaster.  James is survived by 1 son Victor Allen Lemaster of Logan, OH.  3 daughters Carol Surratt of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah Jean Rowe of Logan OH, Sandra K. Smith of Port Charlotte, FL,  2 sister Barbara Ellen Wright of Paintsville, Irene King of Hillard, OH, 4 grand children and 9 great grand children.   James was an electrician with Martin County Coal Company.  There will be a graveside service 10 a.m. Saturday February 4, at the Lemaster Cemetery at Sitka, KY, with James Roger VanHoose officiating.

Dorothy M. VanHoose age 90 died Thursday January 26, 2012.  She was born October 30, 1921 to the late Walter and Sula Witten VanHoose.  Dorthoy is also preceded in death by her husband Mitchell Lee VanHoose.  She was a member of the Sitka Freewill Baptist Church.  Dorthoy is survived by 4 sons: Paul Vanhoose of Falling Water, VA, Darrell Keith VanHoose of Greenbay, VA, Roger Dean VanHoose of Tutor Key, KY, Gary Wayne VanHoose of Nippa, KY, 2 daughters JoNell Grubb of Dwale, KY, Sue Townsend of Midlothian, VA, 1 brother Paul Richard VanHoose of Nippa, KY, 1 sister Deloris Stambaugh of Murray, KY, 15 grand children and 31 great grand children.  Visitation will be on Friday Jan. 27 from 5  p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 28 at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Jim McKenzie officiating.  Burial will follow in the VanHoose Cemetery at Nippa, KY.

Ella Rose Daniel age 80 died Sunday January 22, 2012.  She was born January 12, 1932 to the late Dan and Anna Lee Johnson Gambill.  Ella was a member of the Baker Branch Freewill Baptist Church and a finance officer with the Johnson County School System.  She is survived by 1 brother James R. Gambill of Paintsville, 2 sisters Danna Hamilton of Thelma, and Madge Williams of Carmel Valley, CA.  Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Jeremy Estep and John Hatton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dan Gambill Cemetery at Thelma, KY.

Jessie Lee Ball age 46 died Friday January 6, 2012.  He was born August 29, 1965 to the late Jesse and Beatrice Daniels Ball.  Jessie is survived by 3 daughters Casey Meade of Lowmansville, Teresa Ball and Jessey Lynn Ball both of Huntington, WV,  1 brother Johnny Ball of Jacksonville, NC, 3 sisters Annetta Thompson, Shirley Shackleton and Bonnie Osborne all of Jacksonville, NC, 2 grandchildren.  Jesse was a diesel mechanic with the C T Coal Co. Visitation will be on Tuesday Jan. 10 after 10 a.m. at the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 10 at the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church, with Terry Conley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ball Cemetery at Louisa.

Kathy Evans age 53 died Wednesday December 28, 2011.  She was born July 4, 1958 to the late Rufus and Esta Maynard Smallwood.  She is survived by her husband Charles Evans,  1 son Raymond Evans of Sitka, 1 daughter Clara Kitchen, 1 brother Donald Smallwood of Ashville, OH, 1 1/2 sister Mary Conway of Mansfield, OH. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday December 31.  Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Tobe Wheeler officiating.  Bruial will follow in the Dixon Cemetery Staffordsville.

Clinton “Bud” Patrick age 55 died December 27, 2011.  He was born September 17, 1957 to the late Clinton and Polly Ann Moore Patrick.  Clinton is survived by 1 brother Jerry Patrick of Falcon, KY. and his step mother Frankie Edith Patrick.   He was a mechanic for the Bailey Brothers Car Sales.  Visitation was after noon on Tuesday December 27 at the Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church.  Funeral services were held 4 p.m. on Wednesday December 28 from the Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church with J D Rice officiating.

Margaret Marie Burchett age 79 of Stambaugh died December 21, 2011.  She was born November 25, 1932 to the late Bob and Daisy O’Bryan Blair.  Margaret is survived by 1 son Jim Burchett of Stambaugh, 4 daughters Marina Burchett and Yvonne McCarty both of Stambaugh, Carolyn Fyffe and Lisa Daniel both of Sitka, 3 brothers Flem Blair of Mt. Sterling, OH, Bill Blair of Columbus, OH, Frank Blair of Reynoldsburg, OH, 1 sister Lori Speakman of Columbus, OH.  Visitation was from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Thursday December 22 and on Friday December 23 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday December 24, at the Preston Funeal Home Chapel, with Jim McKenzie officiating.  Burial was in the Highland Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville

Jeremiah Thomas Smith age 34 of Bartow, FL died Thursday December 15, 2011.  He was born June 28, 1977 to Charles Thomas and Sharon McFaddin Smith of Fort Wayne, IN.  Jeremiah is also survived by 1 brother Gabriel Quinton Thomas Smith of FL, and his maternal grandmother Mary McFaddin.  He was a truck driver for the Bynum Trucking Company.  Visitation was held from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday December 22 at the Preston Funeral Home.  Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday December 23 at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Murry officiating.  Burial was in the McFaddin Cemetery at Paintsville

Madalene Gullion age 84 died Sunday December 18, 2011.   She was born March 27, 1927 to the late Hobert and Mary B. Cantrell Hayes.  Madalene is also preceded in death by 2 husbands Arnold Herold Dixon and Jack Warren Gullion.  She is survived by 2 sons Paintsville Fire Chief Bob Dixon of Paintsville, Robert W. Dixon of Paintsville, 5 daughters Angela Dixon Howard of Paintsville, Virginia Carol (Bunny) Dixon O’Bryan of London, KY, Laura Jean Dixon of Hager Hill, Jenny Dixon Princton IN, Mary Elaine Hayes of Williamsport, 2 brothers Charles Edwin (Chick) Hayes of Kingsport, TN, Ronald Coleman Hayes of Paintsville, 3 sisters Doris Irene Mollette of Paintsville, Edwinna Hayes Ward of Hager Hill, Sharon Hayes Brown of Richmond, KY, also surviving are 10 grand children and 10 great grand children.  Visitation 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday December 20 and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.on Wednesday at the Preston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 22 at 1 p.m. from the Preston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry O’Bryan and Larry Joe Bayes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Paintsville.

Anthony Doyle Blair age 44 of died December 16, 2011.  He was born July 28, 1967 to Jannice Arms Blair and the late Gail Blair.   Anthony is survived by his wife Danetta Ramey Blair, 1 son Cory Blair of Ulysses, 2 sisters Jill Blair of Tipp City, OH,  Patricia McCormickof Tipp City, OH Visitation will be held on Saturday Dec. 17, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m  and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday from the Preston Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday Dec. 19, 2011 from the Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Joe Scott and Merle Little officiating.  Burial will follow in the May Cemetery at Hager Hill.
